Let’s have a potluck picnic in San Diego County, shall we?

Date: Saturday, 2010-06-12
Where: Buddy Todd Park, Oceanside
What: Potluck picnic and cosplay gathering.
Time: Noon to 5:00 pm.
Group photo opportunity: Planned for 4:00 pm.

It’s a potluck picnic, so bring something to share. (Mark your dish so we can give you back your leftovers.)

If you’re taking Amtrak, Metrolink, Coaster, Sprinter, or Greyhound, get off at the Oceanside Station and go to the bus stop; take the “Breeze” Route 303 to go up Mission to the top of the hill, Mission and Mesa. Call someone from there to pick you up from the park, or hike a mile down Mesa.

Anime Los Angeles is sponsoring the hamburgers and the pink lemonade, and the charcoal, napkins, paper plates and boats, plastic forks and spoons, cups, and so forth. Some department heads will be on hand to talk about the convention, if anyone cares to have those conversations. Otherwise, just come and have a bite to eat and enjoy a nice day in the park.

Gina “Red String” Biggs, Artist Guest of Honor

Animé Los Angeles 7 is pleased to announce that Gina Biggs, creator of the manga-style comic Red String will be our Artist Guest of Honor.

Spring Gathering/Potluck Picnic at Mile Square Park, 2010-05-15

We’re having a cosplay gathering and potluck picnic at Mile Square Park, in Fountain Valley, this Saturday. Come on down and join us! We’ll be on the north end of the park this time, on the Edinger side, between Edinger/Euclid and Edinger/Ward. Come in via the Edinger/Ward entrance and look for us on the left. Parking is $5, or you can park on the street for free.

We’ll be there from noon to 5. Animé Los Angeles is providing hamburgers, hot dogs, lemonade, and basic fixings. Bring something to share! Wear a costume! Bring a camera! Come as you are! Hang out! Talk to convention staff people! It’s all good.

Registration is Open (2011)

Animé Los Angeles 7 will be 7-9 January 2011. Pre-registration is open now. It won’t get cheaper if you wait!

Right now regular memberships are $40, student/military $35, and that’s for the whole weekend. Rates go up in September, so pre-register now.

Anime Los Angeles 2011 Decor wants YOUR photos!

Hey everyone!

Did you have a fabulous time at Animé Los Angeles ‘10? (I know I did!) Did you enjoy the posters decorating the halls of the convention? Did you wonder how you could get some of YOUR best pictures on the walls?

Good news! Animé Los Angeles’s Decor Department is already collecting photography submissions for next year’s posters! We want EVEN MORE posters in 2011 and that means we’re going to need even more submissions from all of you!

So while you’re filtering through the great photos you took at the con, pop some of them over to our “pix2011″ e-mail address. (High resolution please – at least 800 pixels as the smallest dimension).

We’re not just looking for great photos of cosplayers (although those are more than welcome!). We’re also looking for photos of people at the Con Suite, people roaming the hallways, pictures of cosplay chess, masquerade and other events! Or even just you and your friends having a great time! All photos are welcome and will be watermarked with credit to you (unless specified otherwise).

So submit your shots! The next thing you know, YOUR photos could be all over the hallways of Animé Los Angeles 7~!

Dealers setup (2010)

Dealers may start arriving for load-in for Animé Los Angeles 6 at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 7, 2010 until 10:00 p.m. and will open again for load-in and set-up on the following day at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, January 8, 2010.

Regular vehicles (cars/vans not higher than 6′ 4″ without a trailer) will proceed to the front of the LAX Marriott and down the circular ramp. There, they will be directed by a volunteer to parking spaces set-aside for their use just inside the employee parking area. All other vehicles (trucks, oversize vans, vehicles pulling trailers) must go around the back of the LAX Marriott and use the hotel’s loading dock. Dealers may not leave their vehicle(s) unattended along the lower circular drive or they will be immediately towed by LAX Marriott.

Due to the limitations on time and space, Animé Los Angeles would like to ask all Dealers to respect fellow Dealers and prepare their cargo in such a way where load-in is done on a timely manner so that other Dealers may load-in in a timely manner as well.
