Chaz gave me the idea, and I've been toying with it, so I'm posting it here, one half as an announcement, the other half for you guys to get a heads up and spread the word.
This tournament will be played by the game of Paper-Scissor-Rock and will span for 2 days long starting immediately after opening ceremony and concluding after the masquerade.
Those who enter (still pending on most of this stuff) will have a ribbon designated for the tournament and given 3 - 6 tickets (still playing around with the numbers).
The goal is to get as many tickets as possible.
There will be meeting before hand, I register everyone, you get your ribbon and ticket, learn the rules, and venture out into the convention.
As you walk around, when you find another person, you challenge them (rules apply on when, how, where, etiquette, etc ) and wage an amount of tickets.
I will have staffs in a designated location (working this out again, pending something else) and you can challenge up to 5 different staffs to receive additional tickets.
After the masquerade, there will hold the final tournament with the top ticket holders completing for the championship.
I realized that after I made the general idea, it turned into some imitation of the first Yu-gi-oh tournament in the anime. Oh well.
The time after opening ceremony would stay, but the "playoffs" could change depending on when is a better time.

Sounds like fun! I'm digging the whole non-linear concept.  I'd go with a slightly higher number of tickets (in the 5-6 range) so folks aren't eliminated too quickly on Friday. Or maybe have two rounds: a smaller one on Friday and a larger one on Saturday (would necessitate two different ribbons, possibly). Either one or both could be determined at the final show-down, then the two could fight for the Ultimate Rock Paper Scissors Champion title. Speaking of, the final show-down could fit well during masquerade half-time (provided there aren't several dozen finalists, o'course XD).. I'd love to see how this pans out!

I was thinking of having 1/4 - 1/16 finalist, depending on how many enter. If we do the finale of the tourney as part of the masquerade half-time, than we can have a preliminary semi-finals before masquerade, and have on stage the last 4 or 8 showdown. That would really something neat.
For the days, I definitely want to have it as a 2 day long event... Ultimate Rock Paper Scissor Champion Title... I like that... makes me want to give a trophy-like award to the winner.....

I definately like this idea, but have to agree that a lot of people will be out too early if you do not make it more tickets or a (refill) second day!
