I would like to suggest 2 games that possibly get tournaments. Guilty Gear XX Accent Core and Melty Blood Act Cadenza ver.B.

Guilty Gear XX Accent Core is out in the US, for both PS2 and Wii. I highly recommend that the PS2 version is used considering that most mainstream fighting game players have a PS2 and the PS2 version is considered the standard nationwide. Since Slash was never released in the US, I do not recommend it for consideration especially since it is no longer the latest installment in the series.

Melty Blood Act Cadenza ver.B is another fighting game that has a steadily growing fanbase. It is fast-paced much like Guilty Gear and fairly easy to pick up. Since this game is available for PC, it shouldn't necessarily be hard to run a tournament for it so long as people who have laptops with the game installed are willing to donate. Also, since it's available for PC, there is no need for any special devices to play the game even if it is originally an import game.

More info about the game here: http://www.e56.info/mbacwin/index.html
