Hi,
I was just wondering what the deadline for submitting panels is since I didn't see that information on the site. It so happens that I have managed to wrangle some time off at the start of the year (yay for me) and I would love to do a few roundtable discussions about the state of anime fandom, working in the video game industry, or the current state of affairs concerning the anime industry.
I will be at the con and so I figured that it would be cool to contribute in some way.
Thanks!

Thanks! An interesting idea. Are you a knowledgeable and/or opinionated fan? Do you work in the industry? (Who are you and where do you work?) We have a link for the live program on our "Contact Us" section on the main page.
I know the schedule is firming up; Midnight Rocket should post something here real soon now.

Sweet.
I am definitely a knowledgeable and opinionated anime fan with roots in the actual fandom going back to the 1970's when I used to be one of the few who would supply video tapes to clubs stateside. From there, I spent some time as both a journalist and liaison for the only C/FO chapter ever to be in Japan, C/FO Rising Sun (later Rising Sun Anime) based in Misawa Japan. Upon returning to the US, with a few friends, I then went on to found the Bay Area Animation Society and work for AnimeCon, Anime Expo, and Anime America as part of the programming committee. In short, I'm old.
I continue to work in the video game industry for Electronic Arts at their Redwood City headquarters. I've been working in or around the video gaming industry on and off for 15 years and have been with EA for the last 7 -- I work in the global operations' support offices now but have also worked on the development side of things with companies such as Capcom, Microprose, Hasbro, and the now defunct 3DO Company.
Having been around the fandom and seen the anime industry as fledgling startups, I feel there are a lot of insights to these topics that I can espouse intellectual upon. I think it would be fun to discuss the fandom and where it may be headed as well as be a fun topic or series of topics as I wouldn't want to group discussions on industry and fandom in the same panel. The video game discussion would probably be more on what actually happens with game development and the various different jobs and career paths that are available within the industry. It's something I see and live everyday (being paid to play games is not bad work, if you can get it). While it's not as sexy (at least not to me), there is more than enough to carry a panel or two or three by itself.
I will try to put together a prospectus of the panels I'd like to do and send that in through the Contact us page tonight or, at the latest tomorrow. Within it, I will include the full disclosure of my identity (I love this whole being mysterious-thing way too much).
Thanks!

Hi. I sent in a few ideas for panels recently as well. I think we've got some of the same ideas. Perhaps we can coordinate ideas and perhaps come up with something new.
If you are interested, drop my a line at: orrock at animerepublic dot net to talk more.
Enjoy!!
