Neil Nadelman – Translator Guest of Honor
Animé Los Angeles is delighted to welcome Neil Nadelman as our Translator Guest of Honor.
Neil Nadelman got his start as a professional translator just before graduating from Boston University in 1991, when AnimEigo took a chance and had him translate episode 1 of Bubblegum Crash, the nearly forgotten sequel to the hit Bubblegum Crisis. From there, he went on to work for a number of American anime producers, such as Central Park Media, Pioneer, Bandai Entertainment, Manga Entertainment, and the Right Stuf International. Most recently, he’s been working with Sentai Filmworks and Anime News Network. Somehow, through sheer stubbornness and a desire to never work in an office, he still ekes out a living as an anime translator and subtitler. Over the years, he’s worked on literally hundreds of TV episodes, OAVs, movies, video games, and even a few novels. Some of his old favorites include The Irresponsible Captain Tylor, the Slayers TV series, Armored Trooper VOTOMS, Revolutionary Girl Utena, and a whole lot of Mobile Suit Gundam. His most recent favorite is Tokyo Magnitude 8.0. He currently lives in the Boston area and can often be found tearing open walls in his condo in a never ending quest to figure out exactly how insane the previous owners were when they made their “improvements” to it. He also wishes for it to be known that the monkey on top of his head is a friend and not a hat.
